UK Insurance

So, my car arrives shortly and I need to get good cover. Aside from my regular broker I'm looking for some recommendations.

Here is a shortlist of the ones I'm going to try. Can anyone share their experiences/suggestions or add to/comment on my list?

- Footman James (0121) 561 4196
- Adrian Flux (08700) 777888 (is this the same as A S Flux?)
- Phonos Insurance (01525) 404222
- Nowell & Richards (01785) 255514
- BMW Insurance (0345) 320520

I'll post the results of my search later. Thanks again for your help guys!

Ashok,

I have always used Nowell & Richardson who in turn always seem to come up with Norwich Union as the insurer. I would also suggest you try Direct line and Elephant websites as they can sometimes do it.

Direct Line - 759 pounds
Elephant - 729 pounds

You also need to make sure you are covered for driving the car back from Europe as this will not be included under your normal policy.

Let us know who you go with and why

Here are the results of my shopping around.

I am 35, protected 60% no claims bonus, no claims or points, clean license since '85, 'safer' London suburb, garage & tracker.

- Footman James £ 2128.00
- Nowell & Richards £ 2500.00
- BMW Insurance £ 2172.00
- Phonos Insurance £ 2400.00
- Adrian Flux £ 2252.00
- Norwich Union Direct £ 1859.00

All of the above are subject to a £ 500 excess (deductible) & include my wife as the only named second driver.

I will try and get my current agent to match the Norwich Union quote.

Jesus wept, you need to re-locate

Direct Line quoted £914 fully comp with £500 excess, full no-claims living in Cheshire.

Sorry Spie, I can't relocate but living down here does mean I'm closer to Europe (and the Autobahn).

Thanks to everyone who helped me with their input. I've decided to stay with my agent who matched the Norwich Union quote. By the way, this includes full European cover.
