Curious to know what exactly is in this kit? I have looked in my trunk and it apprears that the previous owner either used it all up or something, cuz it is not there! What exactly is supposed to be there?

Air compressor and a can of goo.

perhaps I will be a bit more specific, anyone got a part number for the air compressor... and can the can of gue be generic???
Not sure if www.realoem.com has the part number, but there is no magic in the BMW compressor or goo. If you really want OE, check fleabay, they show up from time to time. BMW used the same setup in the E46 and I -think- the E60/63M cars.
Theoretically you are supposed to replace the goo every 3 years (can't remember from in service date or manufacture date). So if you bid on one, see if there is an expiration date on the goo.

Jerry

I just replaced mine. It was ~$33 for new 'goo'. My original was never used and expired in '04.

Forget the BMW replacement stuff. By a couple of cans for fix a flat at the store and toss the OEM equipment. You will save space and weight and the store fix a flat cans work just as well or better.

My recent experience made me think twice about using the M-mobility or any fix a flat can from now on... My tire defect warning came on late due to stop and go traffic and it was some distance later before I realized I had a flat.
The rib of the rim had destroyed my less than 3,000km PS2 left rear After the M-mobility and went to tire shop for replacement, it took us more than 20 mins to just clean off the residue from the rim!! It was very sticky and hard to remove. And to think of it, should my tire was still good and I only had to fix the puncture, I'd be riding with the ENTIRE can of fix a flat chemical inside my tire! Wouldn't that mess up the rim's balancing royally?
Better yet, get an old front wheel, a lug wrench and a E39 5-series jack and ditch the compressor and goo.
Seriously.
A major flat (blow out, tear, big hole, cracked rim) and it won't work.
Even if it works, it is only designed to get you to the nearest service station.
If the hole is not repairable my a tire center, you will be faced with:
1. Don't drive the car and await a replacement tire, a replacement wheel, or both.
2. Pay crazy money for the full retail price plus mark up for a tire (and wheel) that 'fits' but doesn't match you others.
Just FYI: even if you leave it at home, a spare wheel and tire can give you the week you need to find the 'right' replacement.

This seems like a great idea. How do you keep the wheel from banging around in your trunk? Any special tie-downs or techniques to keep the tire from damaging the trunk upholstery or panels?
