Got rear ended today...

I lent my E39 to my friend for the day as his car was at my dealer getting some warranty work done. I got an exciting phone call 15 minutes later, as a lady bumped into him while he was sitting at a red light. Thankfully she is insured, and all will be well, but good god does this stuff make your blood boil.

(I know she's a dirty girl... I know...)

Why do these things always seem to happen to certain people? I've never so much as put a dent in a car, and the guy driving has been in at least 4 accidents in the last 5 years. Teaches me to lend him my car...

Sorry to hear that.

The damage doesnt look that severe. Look at it this way, you are now getting a new bumper

Sorry to hear...I know how it feels. Before the M5 I had a pristine 530. I couldn't get into my driveway one night because my wife was hosting a book club meeting. I parked on the cul-de-sac and one of the guests backed into my car. I got it repaired and a truck rear-ended me at a stop light 2 weeks later. Each time, though, the car looked brand-new after the repair!

Same thing happened to me two weeks ago. A coworker was following me to dinner and rear ended me when I was fully stopped at a light (she looked down at her phone, looked up and thought I had departed... wham.)

$1560 plus rental car...

Sigh.

Ouch. Gotta love the annoyance that goes along with owning a great car...

Same thing happened to me 3 weeks ago sitting at a light. I had no where to go as I watched a Dodge "RAM" van hit me. My 02 was perfect. Now, I am getting rid of it. What a pain in the #@*. Sorry to hear you went through that.
Fortunately, I found a 03 M5 with 30,000 miles on it. Same color/options. I am picking it up on Sunday.
