Will M5 calipers and brakes fit a 528i E39?

Im thinking of upgrading my stock brakes after tuning my engine and love the look of a big brake conversion behind my 20's!

the only problem with going for stop tech or brembo etc.. is the price! almost as much as my standard car! haha so a cheap alternative would be an M5 upgrade, is this doable? practical? any guides? all help welcomed

I can't see why not. You just need the brackets, callipers, discs and pads. You might find the hoses are the same.

Discs arn't cheap in the UK. £500 a pair from BMW I believe.

I do still have my original brake stuff from my M5 when I changed to a Stoptech kit.

I don't remember finding another source for M5 discs but there may be one now.

Don't know on a price, see if you can find out how much discs and pads are and if you still want to do the conversion, pm me with an offer.

well going off prices from ebay, on here etc.. they are going for 100-200quid for a set of calipers and ok discs and pads, its the caliper fitment im worried about and of course whether or not the master cylinder is upto the extra beef required?

i think the m5 brake discs only fit the m5 hub as they are different mount for the disc they have extra lugs to locate disc and i think diff bore size,im not 100% poss on this but would think you would need to fit m5 front bearings so discs would fit!

That could well be the case. The spacers I got on the weekend didn't fit and I believe they are designed for a normal e39

My question is WHY do you need these very expensive M parts on your car?? I would have thought that uprated discs and pads for your model would surfice...... I am only thinking this because once you have fitted them you are paying for M parts which are very £££££££

I don't see how that could be true since all e39 wheels fit both the 5 series and the M5.
