Installing xenon bulbs Into hid lamps HELP Please!!!

Ok, so I picked up a set of 01 m5 headlights (xenon) and I bought a set of ballasts and bulbs off an 01 540i. Now im trying to stick the bulbs into the socket and no go... I mean they go into the rubber section but there is no way they attach securly to the plastic, as in they do not lock in place. Is this how they are supposed to be or am I just not sticking them in right?

first you need to pull the rubber part out, then You need to twist that plastic thingy either way then it comes off, then you pull the light bulb out and puthe new one in, then put the plastic thing in, twist it a little bit, put the rubber part back securely and plug the bulb in. oh yeah make sure that your lights are off when you are doing it.
Good luck

Is it possible you're missing the locking ring? There is a ring that twists off the back of the lamp bowl. The rubber boot does need to come off prior to install.
