Air bag recall..and the showroom of doom
Finally got my new bag put in by BMW. Only took 20 months, lol.
Anyway, just wanted to comment on the new cars I saw in the showroom. All I have to say is BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Yes, very fast and tech over the top, and they look pretty good. But the cars are overweight-like most Americans-and the interior is very blase...if I spelled that right. The seats look great, but extended leather did not cover the dash, and the instrument panel in a 6 series, even the M6 if I am not mistaken, looked almost exactly the same as the lame duck x3 loaner car! Same dash layout with crappy hertz looking tach and speedo. My M5 is worlds classier...and the climate control area looks like a Mazda 3 my GF had. And the gear selector looks like something you should talk into or steer a frickin spaceship with, (not one manual in the house)..again same look as the cheap x3. And I do mean cheap looking. The "wood" also..I will take the craftsmanship and design of my 2003 M car any day over that crap. I was so flabbergasted by the interiors that the salesman came over and asked me how I was. I explained to him my feelings and he looked around and told me I was 100% right. BMW is starting to lose an edge it had in certain areas. Still love the brand, but I ain't F'n impressed at all. I would rather put $15-20k into a major overhaul than buy one of those silly new BMWs. And the new M5? Man, did they design this with young elephants driving in mind? The thing is massive. The new 3 series looks bigger than an e39..lol. Just my opinion and observation fellas.
And there's that.
