///M5 exhaust on a 540iS???

HELP! HELP! HELP!

Anyone out there with experience, or know someone who has installed a factory M5 dual exhaust onto a 540iSport/6-speed? Other than modifying the spare tire well, I heard it will just bolt on. Is this true?

I also heard that there could be a few issues with respect to the Oxygen sensor, etc., due to the fact that the flow would now be going through larger-diameter pipes. Also, any OTHER issues I should know about?

Lastly, are there any links or sites I could go to in order to obtain this info?

Any info and light shed upon me would be greatly appreciated.

Re: ///M5 exhaust on a 540iS???

I only have O2 sensors before the cats on my 540 (97) so it was not a problem for
me, never heard of such a problem if you still use std. cats.

And yes the spare well has to be modified or as I did - replaced the whole floor with and M5 floor. - and relocated battery at the same time.

Don't the bends before the muffler hit the 540 rear suspension as well? I thoguht there were some different bends to the piping.

Re: ///M5 exhaust on a 540iS???

Not that I know of - but I have a custom built M5 type exhaust system so It might
be some substance in that .... have not heard anyone having that problem though.

Re: ///M5 exhaust on a 540iS???

Four questions:

1) Where did you get the M5 trunk floor and how much did it cost?

2) Did a bodyshop do the removal of the old and installation of the new?

3) Any problems assocoated with -that- little venture?

4) Where did you get the M5 f/r aerodynamics, and how much did they co$t?

Thanks,
Greg
