:p Hi All, Greetings from Cairns. I bought MIB'S 540 (M5 lookalike & Rims) which now is in need of new shoes. Any ideas on whats good & what's not and where to get a good price in Brisbane ?.
Maybe a group purchase could be organized !.

Hows Emma. I was talking to a guy at the drags some time ago and he was bragging how he had just Put NOS on a car just like mine. When he said Cairns, I knew it had to be You. I told him I used to own that car, but I don't think he belived me.

Anyhow, so HOW IS THE NOS. I'm off to The re-opening of willow bank on the 8.11.03 (Its good to write the date correctly for once). The new clutch is sweet and ready to rock n roll.

I get hosed on tyres. The first set on Emma cost me $1,200 each rear. The next set were $690 each rear and $590 fronts. Thats the set you have on now. So I gather they would have come down even further.

I'm off to the states and mexico in 11 days time. Next time your in Brisbane give me a yell, and I'll take you for a spin in Yoda.

I can defineately recommend the ACS Sway bars. It will transform emmas handling.

:p Thanks 4 the quick reply, Emmas fine I got that power steering problem sorted & it was the pump. The local BMW guys didnt believe me so I had to take them for a high speed spin to demonstrate the problem & a new pump was fitted under warranty and all is good. The guy you must of run into from Cairns is Dave Kriederman from Forced Motor Sports up here and he is regarded as a true Guru when it comes to Forced induction and Nitros kits although the 540 has proven to be quite a technical challenge as far as getting the ECU to talk to the Nitros kit goes. One of my Engineers at work has been developing the electronics for the project in spare time and once finished will work on any fly by wire throttle vehicle. The kit once tested will be available for sale and sold hopefully throughout the world. I bet theres a lot of 318i owners that would get a kick out of it.
We are on version 3 controller which we have developed here in Cairns which converts the throttle position butterfly sensor from a digital signal to an anolouge voltage level that is then used by our controller to activate the funny gas. The controller also converts the crank angle sensor signal to an RPM that is then used to feed a variable RPM switch (set at 3500). This means that when the Nitros is armed it can only be discharged when the throttle is wide open and at or over 3500 RPM. When these conditions are met the controller also sends a switching signal to disable traction control. If all goes well we might get some time this week to finish it all off and enjoy the last bit of life that the tyres have left. Better get the video out.
I will be driving Emma down to Hervey Bay in December but won't be going to Bris due to time constraints but I will certainly be Flying down to check out Willowbank sometime next year and very much look forward to catching up with you & Yoda.
