Not that i'm aware of. Really sucks big time. I use the Bosch KTS 300 to read out life data from M5 3.6 (motronic 1.2), don't know if its capable to read out the 3.8 (motronic 3.3) Thought so.

Try to search a old Bosch tester on Ebay. Only problem with the KTS 300 is you can only read out EML management if you have and DME.

I haven't seen other tools to read out for BMW. Only carsoft, bosch and Modic of course.

Carsoft 6.5 can read my 540 (Motronic 3.3) fine however no live data thought that the obd1 bus is to slow for that. Seems that there is an issue with the different "boxes" available to connect the cables to the cars. % light and 2/3 light ones to ad to the conviousion they work on different cars (or dont) so you might need two to cover all eventualities. Apareantly it can programm cars from 99 onwards (OBD2) however haven't tried that yet.

Does the GT1 not read the older cars as well?
Recently played with the thought off getting that one as it runs on Laptops as well so is perfect to use for customers stranded somewhere.

Davidoli i bought an interface off ebay almost two year ago and couldn't get it to work and just assumed that i had just wasted 40pounds or whatever it was. Until last week when i came across a forum discussing exactly the problem i was having and gave instructions(attached) on how to install carsoft and the crack properly.
So then i tried and hey presto it worked.
The interface came with all required cables(OBDI,OBDII, Serial extension) and i have a 2 or 3 year old IBM laptop(1.6ghz 128mb ram) running XP i used it on.
Im certainly no expert but thats how i got it working, hope this helps.

Alan

Faz, when are you doing a tour of Scandinavia?
Take your M5, load it up with tools and take the wife and kids for a short holiday, in the meantime you can sort out our M5's!
