when the car went to get painted I asked the bodyshop not to replace the bonnet and boot badges as I wanted brand new ones.

So today I phone BMw and ask for 2 badges.

£25 + VAT!!

Now, I'm not a cheapskate when it comes to spending money on the old girl but £25 is an absolute piss take for 2 BMW badges.

Or am I missing something here?

You can get a better deal than that from people such as Auto Tint Design, BMW Style and Motormec.

ye you have to watch out for this, i had trouble with this. The first ones i ordered turned out to be cheap plastic ones from hong kong or something - no good, but i did manage to find genuine ones although it did take me some time watching numerous items until i bidded.

Bite the bullet and pay whatever the retail cost is, minus at least 10% discount of course.

Lets face it £25 is not a lot when you consider how sh1t the car looks without them!

with ebay and the internet , we have become a nation of spivs and bargain hunters to the point that we will spend hours , not valuing our time , to save £2..........opportunity cost is something that also needs to be considered !

saying that , i bought my last badge off the bay !

Ebay ones are 99% fakes.

Note: BMW no longer supply the metal badges, they are now plastic.

For the rear boot badge, go to a scrapyard, chances are very good that you will find an unmarked rear badge.

Front badges get stone-chipped so it is very lucky to find a good metal badge there these days. Most people now go with the expensive BMW plastic badges.

Sal, I just priced them at my local friendly parts dept. I can get them for £9 each + VAT. In stock as well, I might in there tomorrow or monday.

£9 + VAT is better.

Sorry to come accross as a cheapskate on this one but something that costs **** all to produce and sticking 1000% on top is just a piss take. £25 is not alot of money considering what I have just spent on the car and what I'm about to spend but it's just the principal of it.

None the less, brand new badges are what is required.
