Picked up the 3.8 from the paint shop today after the paint damage it had from road paint.

To say I am happy is an understatement! It looks amazing and pretty much brand new. The paint job is amongst the best I have seen for a long time and given the money the insurance agreed to pay it's quite an achievement.

They didn't do a few little jobs like take 2 very light dents out of one door but again, given the budget it really is amazing.

Pics to come tommorrow, was about to take some a little while ago but the heavens opened up

Good stuff Sal.....make sure that you let us know who did it too .

I know that another member was asking for a decent bodyshop in West London , although I'm sure that he'd be willing to travel for a decent job !

Still no pics, will get them done asap.

There are plenty of horror stories about paint shops and I have experienced soem of the worst.

I was really nervous before picking it up this time round because of previous experience.

The bodyshop I used is a place in Kent called Candy Automotive. As the name suggest these guys specialise in Candy paint. You get alot of old american cars in there and many Harleys.

These guys really take pride in their work and this is something you don't really find these days.

Obvioulsy, there is a price to pay for such high quality work. Expect to pay nothing less than £2500 for a respray.

Have all the extra air intake holes on the front end panels been removed now ?

I don't think you would get much work in the UK based on that comment Wout.

Door shuts , hood & trunk shuts aside, £2500 would get you a respectable repair & respray of an E34 M5 that was in the overall condition of Sals, ie very good & only a small amount of surface corrosion on the nearside rear lower door IIRC.
Paint labour costs are not keeping pace with other vehicle service related costs within the UK currently.
Some paint shops are working on £20-£25 per hour for insurance related work.
(Agree that might not get you the best attn always !)
