Wasn't mine though, member RacerZ had some SLS trouble :
It appeared that the actual attachment of the actuator for the SLS had torn out of the chassis! Problem was that my mechanic decided against welding in that area, as its thin material and the risk of causing a fire or extreme heat in the section under the rear seat where all the electronics are would be too dangerous. Also, the foam that settles between the two layers of sheet metal could catch fire and cause trouble. So , we riveted/bonded a new carrier in the repaired chassis part,
We had to take the exhaust off in order to access the problem, which resulted in the flanges breaking. The ones that could be ordered would come in too late ( car had to be finished today, parts would arrive next week!) and some of them can't be separated from the exhaust. That's why my mechanic copper-welded them back together again:
Since I had some time left before dropping off the car, I decided to do some minor things that caught my eye ( can't be helped!! its an M5!!)
Sunroof had gone a bit flat, so that polished up nicely:
Took the wipers off as they had lost a lot of paint:
After rough-primering to get the OEM effect, they looked a lot better:
Nicked a badge off an old scrap E30 we had standing around..Not new, but better :
God is in details
Ended up polishing the car from the rubber strips upwards:
Good to work on E34 M5's again..Now to get that Sebring out of the garage
