That's what you get for running over inflated 285's on the front

If you are fitting the Powerflex bushes are they the black ones? I have been told that the yellow/purple ones (that I had fitted last year) are too soft and some people have been reporting premature failure.

Ben
You are right.
The purple ones were indeed failing in this location on the inner rod.
I have had one set of failed purples in this location & a second set under evaluation still.
I would expect these things to last 50k miles not 5k miles.
I would go with blacks at this time.

Ben

Am I an exception to this rule ?....bought Powerflex ( purple ) bushes in October and they are still performing well.....note that some of our roads are like rally routes and suspension components usually have a much shorter lifespan here...prior to the powerflex my bushes typically lasted about 2 months !

The Powerflex bushes I have are purple..........

Maybe I'll just save myself a load of arse-ache and buy pukka BMW complete arms. Then I won't have to butcher the old bushes out and if I fit them correctly maybe they'll last more than 1300 miles......

Have I read somewhere that the arms from a 750i will fit and have stronger bushes??

Rob , don't waste your money . The lemforders from GSF are OEM quality and , if fitted correctly , will be just as good as anything direct from your dealer for a fraction of the price !

OK - so the purple Powerflex bushes I have are no good.

The Lemforder arms are OK (if fitted correctly!).

What about the 750i arms??

And where would I get/how much would I pay for black Powerflex bushes?

Cheers,

R

Hi Rob ,

The lemforder control arms come complete with bushes .

I know nothing about 750i arms .

These people supply powerflex and can probably give you a price :

Thanks David,

Have finalised my plan though since my last post...........

Going to bung the purple Powerflex bushes in - I may as well get SOME use out of them since I paid for them, and since I do less than 5,000 miles a year, I'll probably get 12 months out of them.

Also, they will be easy to take out when I need to replace them (with black Powerflex ones), so it's no major hassle.

Just to re-cap on the correct procedure..............

Fit the bushes, fit the arm but only finger tight. Drop the car on to its wheels and then really re-tighten them.

Someone confirm please - before I knacker another set of bushes!!!!
