OT: E24 Project Car with E34 M5 Drivetrain

I've always been a big fan of the E24 (small euro bumper) body style.

Has anyone ever fitted a full E34 M5 drivetrain into an E24?

Is such a project possible without major surgery to the engine bay or firewall etc.?

White as well, nice, i'd prefer it a bit more standard looking but probably needs all the help it can get to keep it on the road.

Northwester, I would think the b38 would fit in ok, fairly sure its been done on some e28's, the 3.6 / b36 engine can be dropped straight in. I doubt the external dimensions are any different. A friend of mine has an e24 I'll ask him if he knows of any that have been transplanted.

CSL V10 is nice.

HAve seen how BMW mechs work on E60 V10's though. Think monkey stuff.

You won't be able to access 40% of the vital parts of that engine in an E46 shell.

Still, great fun!

Funny that the site shows they have flogged the original CSL stuff in a compact

Whilst we are on the engine swap topic:

S62 in E36 sedan

M70 in Compact ( Hartge H50)

M57nII in E30 ph 1

S14 in 2002

S85 in X5
