New rear parcel shelf

Hi all,

Wanted to fit a brand new rear shelf to my 91' 3.6 with manual rear blind.

The dealer says they are NLA.Only the shelf for no blind cars (no slot in it),or the shelf for cars with electric rear blind is still available.

I dont trust myself trying to cut a fine, accurate slot in the no blind shelf without destroying it,so have got a leccy fitting one.
The dealer seemed to think it would fit!
It looks the same, but to avoid pulling half the interior to bits, does anyone know what the difference is,and will it fit or not?

Thanks guys

Colin.

Hi Colin .....see diagrams for manual and electric shelves :

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/partgrp.d...85&hg=51&fg=60

on the face of it there doesn't seem to be a huge difference although obviously the parts numbers aren't the same ......

What do you reckon ?

I've just bought a new one which should be in tomorrow, I have my old electric blind shelf here if you need to measure anything. What colour shelf do you need?

Hi.
I fitted the electric blind to my car a couple of years ago.
The electric blind has a bigger physical hump toward the rear 30% of the shelf to house the motor & folding support arms for the blind.

The shelf for manual blind is a different profile again & the blind itself is different in function as it has a latching hook at the top.

All the shelf options were available back then.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the offer, but measuring your leccy shelf wont really help as i already have a brand new leccy shelf here.I think i would need to place a manual shelf next to it to work out if it will fit.

Farrel,
Thanks for that, this is not looking good.
It looks like the only way i am going to find if it fits is to strip the old one out-doh!

Cheers guys

Colin.

There's something very satisfying about fitting a new rear shelf but what a pain in the *** transfering the electric blind across is...

Won't be finished by then, the rear shocks need to be changed again and that isn't happening until the end of July, then I am still looking for a dash after TNT trashed the only one in the Country

Then the carpet change is being done 1st week of Aug. Still working out if the heater needs to be removed or the carpet is tucked under it. I was talking to the workshop foreman at the local BMW garage today, for a lot of the models when they do a carpet change they actually cut the carpet around the heater box to get it out as they are not allowed enough hours to do it properly

At the moment I can't move in the house for cleaned and fed leather, it's like living inside a cow
