Spending my holiday money!

Hi guys,
Just got the black monster out of storage for it's MOT.(only done 800 miles since last year!)
Thought i'd share with you my to do list for the next month or so:

1/Major service
2/MOT
3/New water pump
4/Coolant flush/change
5/New under bonnet insulation
6/New headlining
7/New rear parcel shelf
8/New door bottom mouldings (painted)
9/New springs (H&R)
10/New exhaust (prob S/Sprint & Eisenmann)
11/Re-finish rocker cover (any ideas?)
12/Oil leak back of head
13/Upgrade the Nitrous to single point wet system
14/Brake fluid change

I'm sure i'll add to this list by the end of the week .Ive also thought about the chain tensioner upgrade-please remind me,why do i want to do this exactly??
Also thinking about putting 19's on (probably much to everyones disgust!)
Will do all the work myself as always, although i dont want to just wet spray the rocker cover.Does anyone know any companies that can powder coat these or similar?

I,ll let you know as the list grows.

Colin.

Hiya.

If I remember right, the timing chain tensioner upgrade, from the M3, involves a simple "swap", so that the tensioner works by spring pressure as oppose to a weight of oil pushing the tensioner, if that makes any sense. I'd imagine a more consistent pressure is applied by a spring.

If you do a search for rocker cover, I'm sure you'll find a few posts covering the painting of it.

Mark

A tip for the headlining. If it is just a small sagging then gluing velcro to the roof and to the headlining itself is a cheap, easy way of restoring it. I've done it and it works a treat!

Thanks Mark for the short and sweet answer,if the spring pressure is also ratchetted, that would make sense, although i'm not aware of any probs with mine. Will think about this, maybe do a search before i decide.

Davidoli-I work for myself as an independant garage and have done since 1984.
I would NEVER let ANYONE touch my car !

Ralph-Thanks for the tip,but i would never be happy with that.
BRAND NEW headlining, underbonnet insulation and rear parcel shelf all sitting in my workshop now ready to fit later this week. All came direct from BMW complete with 12 years of dust on the boxes! (marked 1995!!!!)
Shame they wer'nt 1995 prices!

Might have a prob with the parcel shelf though as my car has a manual rear blind and this is apparently NLA.
Had a choice of no blind shelf or elec blind shelf shelf,so took the latter.Did'nt fancy trying to cut an accurate slot in the shelf and destroying it.Parts guy reckoned the leccy one would work. Anyone know different?

To update:

Service done-No nasty surprises thankfully.
Waterpump and coolant changed-I can get these pumps for £100 LESS !! than the dealer wanted -if anyones interested.

Brake fliud changed
Sailed through the MOT (just a formality really!)

All of a sudden got mad busy so now the monster has been pushed to one side for a few days.
Doh-damn paying customers !

Will keep you up to date when i've done more .

Thanks for your interest

Colin.

Sorry to go OT, but where can you get the cheap water pump from?

I am thinking of changing mine. I do not fancy mine breaking at an inopportune moment +/- overheating my engine.

Hope the repairs go well.

Good to hear from you again Colin

I knew you were a mechanic, but didnt know you ran your own business..

Good luck and the under-bonnet isolation is a nice treat..One of the German guys changed his and it made the car appear a lot cleaner. Its not expensive either so I will order one on my next round ( hope to stay under 4 figures this time though )

You are welcome Colin.

I have still to do my timing chain upgrade, which is why I don't know all the little in's and out's........

Sounds like you are getting your motor into fine shape.

I am extremely picky as to who works on my car too. Which means "not me" !! LOL

All the best
