Couple of pics from my 'ring trip

Had a cracking time at the 'ring last weekend.

Car performed the allround trick brilliantly - cruising in comfort at high speed (only where legally permitted on the autobahns...), scratching on the roads around the Eifel Mountains or hooning around the 'ring.

Happy to report that the old M5 held her own on track - generally, the only things that came past us were well driven GT3 RSs.

Great to see Nebpor and Konst there as well...........

Lovely pics! I'm just sad I missed a passenger ride due to all the blooming accidents - after my laps in the 964RS it would have been nice to experience the M5, so I can judge whether to take mine over

Rob: remind me what brakes you were using, after your earlier grief with them turned out well in the end!

Hi guys,

Weather was VERY showery on Saturday, but Sunday was GORGEOUS.

Stevo - I'm on Mintex pads (1144 IIRC).

I think the problem was that they had never had a proper heat cycle. Once they'd been properly hot once, they were fine and ran without problems.

The M5 was surprisingly good around the 'ring - felt fantastic. The only time its bulk became obvious was on high speed quick direction changes. But even that wasn't a major problem.

The car was agile enough to be grabbed by the scruff of the neck - have a good little vid of me going a wee bit sideways after Pflantzgrten, but can't post it up here..........

I'm not really into taking it on track (in the UK anyway), but I'd love to take it back to the 'ring.....

Couple more pics to whet your appetites: ( I like the one dropping into the Karussel - Konst looks to be enjoying himself.........!!!)

If you look on the right hand side of the picture there is a large slightly faded white dot, the correct line for Karussel is to place the car so that the dot is in the middle of the car on entry. there is another white dot on the exit, it also goes in the middle of the car.

saying that, the look on my face appears to indicate that we were doing just fine

Hehe! "Do I always turn in to the Karussel that late?"

I don't have the slightest idea!! I probably turn in differently every time!!!

Only done 10 laps in total, so still learning my way around............
