hey everyone,

when i have just driven my car a bit hard for like a minute or so the car makes a strange sound, goes away after a while.
i read the thread about edc and understand that it enhances steering or something aswel when you are doing some speed or sporty driving so maybe the sound only appears when edc was being used...

basically i don't know and i am open for opinions

Hi
The circumstance you state for EDC & steering only holds true when the Servotronic steering option is fitted.
This system ( when working properly, which is not very often these days !)
artificially weights the steering based on road speed input.
Light at urban speed but much heavier on open roads & Autobahn speed.

There is however ,no direct interaction between the steering system & the EDC control unit.
The twin wiper steering angle sensor fitted to all 3.8 steering columns for EDC
angle of turn / rate of turn is providing NO input to steering assistance.

Is it a grinding/moaning noise?

If so isn't that a sign the Power steering fluid is low?

yes, it is a moaning noise, and what i meant is that perhaps when that edc makes the stearing heavier it perhaps makes the steering column or something work harder and therefor at that point you would notice that it is worn...or yes maybe the fluid could be low.
