Need Tranny?-my Baby Won't Move!

My fellow M5 friends,

Well, I went to the dealership and it appears
the tranny is locked up. The input shaft doesn't move
a lick and the output shaft moves a little.

The dealership wanted too much as you can imagine.
I move the car to a independent service provider that
only services BMWs. They have a good reputation and are well known for their service and ability to work with customers.

I spoke to them and they are on the search for another M5 tranny. They told me if we have to, their is a shop in North Carolina that rebuilds BMW trannys.

Do any of you know of anyone that I can buy a M5 tranny off of or do you recommend a different type of tranny (6 speed maybe)?
Is rebuild a good alternative?

let me know

rw

What year M5 do you have? Is it euro or U.S version? The 6-speed from 95 model year , should fit euro 92-94 3.8L , at least I've put one on my car without any problems (changing a gearbox is a really hard work and you have to make lots of preparations and demount lots of stuff , but you'll probably do it in a auto-shop or at the dealer , i did it myself , lots of work , but how satisfing...)
