Atlanta Area : M5 with 6 speed ???

Hi,
my car was bought from someone in Atlanta Area, we've lost contact.
( I am not sure, maybe Mr. John Builder ??? )

Does someone know the owner from my former car ?

Daytona violet, Made 1995, 6 Speed, Porsche brakes front and rear, special transmission.

It should be the fastest M5 in this area.

Regards
Thomas

Hi Thomas,

Sorry for away from your question but I'm curious. How special is your transmission?

I made it.

The 5. gear ended at 235 kmh, the 6. gear went up to the rpm limit, 7250 = 282 kmh,

A 911 Porsche was never a problem, no chance, no matter which speed area.

but it's gone now.

Cheers

Thanks Thomas!

But I feel strange to the point that 5 speed gear ends up at 235km. If this is correct, the car must have very low final at differential gear. It also means the car can accelerate faster than normal M5.

So your car seems to have been 0-60 dash specification, I guess.

I don't know it exactly now, it's some time ago.
The 2. gear ended at 100 kmh. I installed a short shift.
That made it.
Right , this car was MUCH faster than any E 34 M5.

Even the new E 39 M5 was no problem because of it's enormous weight. On cornery roads I blew them all. But on an empty highway the new one was a bit faster because of it's high torque.

But the E 39 had so much problems with the engine I lost interest.

Yeah , the trans is probably for accelerations , but as far as i know , the normal 6-speed E34 couldn't rev it's 6th up to the max , it was kind of overdrive , i have a modified 6-speed in my car too , and i get 290 on the max revs in the 6th.

290 kmh ?

Sorry, but I have serious doubts about that.

Not possible with stock engine.
Max. with stock engine, modified rear axle A N D
18" wheels is 282 kmh.
My rear axle was calculated from a transmission engineer who was in the team which developed the M5.

And I know how much of these transmissions were made.

The 3.8 l engine was at the limit 1994/1995 !

Chip tuning is very dangerous because they go for higher rpm ( > 7250 ) and then the valves can't be cooled enough, the engine will say 'good-bye' to you.

There was one ( !!! ) who got the 290 kmh, BUT this one had special and expensive parts ( prototype ) from M-Gmbh inside the engine. This engine died last year.

So I do not believe your 290 kmh.

Keep an open mind

Thomas-
You shouldn't be that fast to judge the 290km/h
Road and air conditions can make a difference of 8km/h easy. Besides, how do you know what the guy has done to his Trans/rear end? Sorry for budding in, but I just thought you should keep your mind open to the possibilities.
