4 Seater M5 E34 - Help Needed Guys!!

Dear M5ers,

I feel ashamed to ask this, as it makes my car look really bad.

I only got my ///M5 recently, and I found that the rear seat divider known as the "breadbin" has been damaged.

The top fold out storage is ok, but the lower drawer is missing, having been broken off from the leather bound front, and the front jammed into place.

When I went to look in the drawer, and pulled the handle, the front came away in my hand, and it was just the front (!!), no drawer attached.

Now I scared myself silly, by asking my local dealer how much they are, `cause I care for the car, and he said £183+VAT (17.5% UK), because it is leather. OUCH !!

Would one of you guys please go and get your drawer out and tell me the EXACT dimensions W x H x H of the drawer in millimeters, not including the front panel bit, as someone I know can make me one from the correct style of plastic, and then I can reattach it to the front using the original mounting point.

A digital camera picture would be great if you have the facility, as there are no ///M5 in Bournemouth, England that I can go and get the information for myself.

If you cant post a pic here, then mail it to me on hammerstein@abcwarrior.com

Thankyou everyone,

Ivan.

Hi Ivan,

Have you tried calling or email used car places? The M5 is pretty rare but I would suspect that the "breadbin" is a very low demand item. I have seen more than a few M5 owners who wanted to convert their rear seat to just the standard version w/o the breadbin. I personally like it because it is just another thing that seperates the M5 from the "regular" E34's .
As far as taking measurements it looks like I will have to take out the seat cushion and do some dismantaling to take that drawer out so if you really need the measurements post back and I'll get around to it sometime this week.

Thanks for the offer but hold on before taking your car apart.

It looks like the drawer should come out, with no rear seat dismantaling required.

I will post a link later to a bit of webspace i own, after I have posted a digital camera picture of what bit exactly I mean.
Thanks,

Your advice appreciated.

Ivan.

Also I will post a message to the salvage yards in the UK.

Ivan - I have the rear seats of my M5 right here... I'll take a picture, measure the dimensions, and mail them to you. Whats your address?

Bryn.
