Hello from another newbie

Hi all. After 18 months ownership of an e34 525 I've bitten the bullet and bought a 1990 3.6. The car is better than I could have hoped for and I'm totally hooked! On the whole the car seems to be a good one (famous last words) but the 1st to 2nd shift is quite notchy - is this normal? Hope to learn some things about my new pride and joy and have a laugh on this forum. Cheers, Dan.

Dan welcome to M5 ownership and the best board in the business. Re the gear change have you ever looked at the linkage or the bushing setup. The original unit has a plastic pivot ball and this may have rotted. Any thoughts re a short shifter to reduce the long throw?

Hi legacy260, haven't looked yet but will do now - thanks. The throw does seem rather long, looking on the forum some people have gone for a short shifter or the z3 lever. Is it an expensive/difficult job?

Were you in a very nice de-badged 3.8 with 18" parallel alloys? Mine is a silver 3.6.
