Low speed brake shimmy

Guys,

Recently I've noticed a slight bit of brake shimmy and an occasional gentle pull to the left when I brake moderately from says 30mph. High speed braking doesn't produce this until the speed drops to say 20mph when this will happen again. To be truthful it is probably worse below 10mph.

The suspension and suspension geometry were all checked out about a year ago and a couple of bushes renewed. Similiar for the brakes.

I've never been happy with the front tyres ( Continental Sports Contact 2 ) and still get the occasional shudder at 55mph especially when its cold. The tyre man says they are OK. When its time to change it will be PS2's.

Any ideas about the low speed brake shimmy?

Hi Ralph ,

It could be anything but , if I had to have a punt , I'd suggest having the control arms checked .......upper being the prime candidate .

A quick trip to a decent specialist .....1/2 an hour's labour and you should have a definite answer !

In the interim , you could always stick some Old Skool Electro on your stereo and practise your dance moves as you brake for tight corners !

Good luck .......D

^ Inspect is the way to verify and I'd guess worn tie rod or worn ball joint on the left side center link giving the play you sense as a wobble.

Thanks for the tip David. It's getting booked in.

Oh, by the way, if I let some air out of my R rear tire do you think that would improve the bass?
