Failed WOF - adjusting headlights?

Hi all and happy new year. Can someone advise where the adjusters are for the headlights been ok for the last 3 wof but not now cheers Steve

Hi Steve ,

they are the long white plastic screws above the headlight that are accessed by lifting the bonnet .....the screws are protruding into the engine bay.

many thanks for reply. those long white screws are very stiff and feel like they might break if turned or does the out side screw turn which is very stiff to, cheers S

I would recommend that you take the car to a mechanic and have the headlights aimed properly as it is quite a specialist job .......could the test centre not do it for you ?

You are right about the fragility of the adjusting rods.
They rarely get touched & sited as they are, they see engine heat, external cold & moisture.
Personally, I would get the car undercover, heat the adjustment rods up with a hair drier & get some breakfree or similar on the rod threads.
You may even be better taking the grill off to get the parts free.
If the rods break, you will have to do this anyway.

Agree with Davids comments if the adjustment is being undertaken to pass a test.

Well got my WOF and all good. I tried the hairdryer trick on the plastic rods and it did the job thanks Farrel.
So now my next job is to install my new tentioner and then sort the hood lining. allways something to do ay S
