slight glovebox sag

My glovebox hangs a little bit lower on the right side when in the closed position, (LHD). Is there someway to correct this?

cheers,

Mine does as well--in fact, just about every picture of these cars, LHD or RHD, have sagging offside glove boxes. Mine has an annoying squeak when going over bumps as well...I'll watch this thread to see any ideas popping up.

Easily adjustable, but a pain to get perfect...
If you read early road tests of the E34 they always complain about
the fit of the glove box !

If you look down under the dash ( you'll need to stick your head in
the footwell..) you'll find two plastic lock tabs at either end of the lower
glovebox hinges...these can be unlocked by hand and allow quite a large
amount of adjustment so you can play around with the lid to dash alighnment.

Have fun, oh and its virtually impossible to get perfectly square !

Regards,

Alan.

My glove box problem is that the door really needs a good old shove to close it, but it fits very well, I have had it out a few times though.

Mine had the habit of opening up under spirited driving, mainly because it;s always loaded too heavy..Just lock it and the problem is gone..Jus' never to unlock it again whilst driving unless you have a spare key in there..You would not be the first.

The only way to solve it is to shorten the cloth strap so it is the same lenght as the little damping strut. BTW if you take out the glovebox you see the bar it's hinged on is crooked as well so it'll always be a b*tch to get straight........

Don't get me started on adjusting the effing glovebox.

If you can get it to line up, then it will rattle. If you can stop the rattle, you need to be Samson to shut it.

The guy who designed it probably did the wipers and the fan too.

best of luck, mate.

Funny, I was going through my receipts the other day to look for recent valve adjusts (there were none) but I did notice that during one of the cars very first services that the service rep had written down "customer complained of crooked glovebox, please adjust"

hehe.
