Wiper linkage

Right, I'm not talking about getting to the wiper motor - the mammoth job, but my 3.8 wiper linkage has come apart - the bit you can view at the edge of the bonnet and the windscreen - is there a way to remove the clips that hold this grill section in? I managed to get the offending arm out, but cant get to the wiper arm side without removing this grill - pics below....

Alan,

The square retaining-clips have notches in them. You can use some long-nose pliers to get them out- but be careful as BMW designed them to be one-use only. One you've removed all the clips the grille comes off in 3 sections, I think, from memory.

Just break the clips and take the grille off. You can still get the clips from the dealer. I just replaced a few on my car.

I THINK this is the part number:

Expanding Rivet for cowl trim
51 71 1 928 946
