The Unofficial E34 M5 Mod. thread.

Mod as in modification not moderator . I think it would be beneficial to have an official thread that can be stickied that lists every mod available for the e34 m5 with as much info on it as possible. There is not alot of stuff for the car so it shouldnt be tooooo long. I figured we could start with the unofficial thread and compile all the info and then I can organize it by catagory and make an official thread with all the info. If you know of any mods, post up the info. Manufacturer, part, price, where to buy. That should be sufficient. A link to a picture or info would be great.

What do you all think?

No
This is not a good idea imho.
There are certain durability related mods for this vehicle within the E34M5/com/faqs.
Making a sticky of mods, some of which may be unproven & not warranted / fully tested could indicate this Boards support or sanction of said modification.
By all means take this to Gustav or Kees but I for one would be very nervous of the implications.

Sorry

I don't see the use, as "the mods" is a pipe dream in the first place. There's plenty available on the market to modify the cars to suit an owners taste, but often mods are made for the sake of doing something, rather then actually creating a better car. Faz is right about all implications of making an "official" thread, especialy with all the US-members on board.

The idea behind this was just to list what was available. People can ask about certian products if they are interested in them, but its not intended to be a guide to what to do to your car. just what you can do. For instance, I have no clue what all ac schnitzer had to offer for the e34 m5. It would be nice to know all the stuff that they have, and dinan etc. Then at least i know my options.

Hi
I understand where you are going with this now.
The problem is that there actually was very little available for these cars even when current.
Most of the AC stuff & Hartge has long been dropped from the Catalogue.

I think that development costs for doing a sound product for such a limited production vehicle put many off due to TUV approval being very costly for true acceptance of quality parts.

Half the Dinan stuff appears not to be theirs in origin if past comments & investigation are anything to go by.

Its with the greatest respect to all that I comment.

Could a possible solution to the problem of implication be, to have the list qualified. That any given item is untested by the board its self but only reflects an individuals exeperience with a product good or bad.

Saying that I can appreciate that running a forum must be full of implications that we as users aren't aware of or even possibly don't undertand (legal issues), and as such we need to leave it to moderators to decide at the end of the day.

Either way the board will still be great!

Yeah.. All i wanted was a list of mods, discontinued or not. You never know when something might pop up used on ebay. I never knew that acs made a mono wiper system until i happened to come across a guy who was making his own version and mentioned it. Stuff like this would be usefull in one thread so you can know whats out there. Like you said, the parts for this car are rare. It would be nice to know all the options.

...because too many of our liberties are taken away as a result of yanks doing idiot things without thinking about it for a split second. Before writing a disagreement-speech, please read every warning-sticker or disclaimer in you average new car.

Then realise the same car is sold here without those, and think why that is.......
