Have you two worked out the legal position of a lamppost yet?

Keep up the good work!

- yes.

but hopefully not until I have practiced a bit more away from horrible curbs/lamposts... like on an airfield day. And hopefully won't be re-postioning anymore lamposts.

Those bloody lamposts are just so inconsiderate aren't they? Why do they always get positioned so close to the road? No regard for people like us testing the limits of tyre adhesion!

I think I've been hijacked!!!

Say, Illjah, got any photo's of the lamppost encounter? I noticed the nice green car you picked on FleaBay. Looks sharp! Not sure why you prefer the narrow kidneys though.

Info on this car and on 540i E34.

Yes GA65557 has the second highest VIN for a North-American 540i/6 E34, GA65558 is a Cosmos Black/Leather Silver grey M-Sport made 1995-11-23, what day is GA65557 made? And yes is Niels is the former owner, a very special car, would outrun any factory standard M5 E60 on the Autobahn=)
Some thoughts, first the E34 M5 was finished by the time the 540i M-Sport was made 9/95-11/95, last M5 Touring made 8/95 BL01939 “Fjordgrau Karl?” only one that month, last M5 Limousine made 1995-07-26, the rest of the E34 was stopped in different times I’m surprised that you ask what the point is Karl, thus anybody wonder why Alpina puts numbers on there cars? Prestige and knowledge is important to most car enthusiasts.
For the 540i, the following goes;
540iA Limousine ECE LHD GF00000-GF08410 HE61 the only one in December was made in 1995-12-18 Orient blue sold new in , the last one of 45 model year 1996 540iA LHD Limousine E34 made, total number made 8267ps, 3/92-12/95.
540iA Limousine ECE RHD GF20000-GF22435 HE62, a lot made in December 1995, 2347ps, 10/92-12/95.
540iA Limousine NA LHD GF25000-GF34686 HE63, 6ps made in December 1995, 9461ps total, 11/92-12/95, 65ps is 540i M-Sport.
540iA Limousine ZA RHD South-African made, I have very little data, the only thing I known is that when I add all German made and the 72 540i/6 ZA cars the numbers lacking between the total numbers of 540i E34 and thus made in Germany are, 1308ps, a VIN number would be really appreciated.
540iA Touring ECE LHD HK41 GK00000-GK01749 the last one is in , bad condition, Schwarz II/Jet black colour, made June 1996, total number, 1671ps, 5/93-6/96.
540iA Touring ECE RHD HK42 GB64000-GB64261, 227ps made, 12/93-6/96.
540i/6 Limousine ECE LHD HE51 BJ12000-BJ12833, the last one is from 1995-11-02 “only one in November” like the ECE LHD 540iA it’s Orient blue, but sold in Germany, one of my own 540i/6 is made the second last day the made HE51, 4th from behind, the 46ps last is 1996 model year, unlike the M5 and US E34 there were 1996 540i, I have two of them=) + the 3rd last in Hellrot/Bright red, MY 1995, 797ps 1993-07-08 to 1995-11-02.
540i/6 Limousine ECE RHD HE52 BK35000-BK35273, in this number the 70ps Australian 540i Limited Edition belong, total number is 249ps, 1/94-12/95, last cars is BK35269 and BK35272 both from 1995-12-19, the car with the last VIN, is made 1995-12-15, at least the 9 last cars are Avus blue, Individual series variant D, only 249 cars made in RHD for all RHD markets except South-Africa, more on that market below.
540i/6 Limousine NA LHD HE51 GA64000-65558, in this number the 32ps M540i and the 135ps 540i M-Sport belong, 1524ps total, 3/94-11/95.
540i/6 Limousine ZA RHD HE98 BB82000-BB82071, all may have Nürburgring chassis but lacking of information on these cars make this is a guess not a fact, these cars are made in South-Africa, 72ps, 9/95-1/96 “one car in January 1996, could be the last E34 Limousine, competing with the other ZA cars.
540i/6 Touring ECE LHD HK31 GB45000-GB45541, last car is made 1996-06-04 like the ECE 540iAT LHD the car is Schwarz II/Jet black, was for sale in Germany 2002 by a BMW dealer, I saved the picture=) total number 499ps, 8/93-6/96.
540i/6 Touring ECE RHD HK32 BH15000-BH15083, the rarest E34 cars series? 62ps made between 11/93-5/96, please take care of them in , I would say most are there.
That makes the 540i/6 Touring rarer than the M5 Touring! Something most doesn’t know, there were made at least two 6-gang with Nürburgring chassis + a 540iAT in Bronzitbeige, that had contrasting paint, M-technic bumpers, the first owner sold it this year.
To conclude it is one of the last LHD 540i/6 Limousine, could be the last, if it’s made after the 23rd of November, but than again GA65556 could be lather, I looking for all equipment lists for all of the 3203ps 540i/6 made, then I can tell.
Obvious that I love 540i E34?=)
Regards Stephan
