Calibrating tachometer?

Hi! I m new to this forum. I have a m5 3,6 1990 euro spec with 195 000 km on the clock. the only problem i noticed is the tachometer is reading 120km/h when I m rolling at 100km/h. what is the problem?? And I have another question regarding the consumption of my monster; what is the average consumption you do per 100km. The car was inspected by the stealership and they find nothin wrong on it, in fact they said it was the cleanest 1990 bmw they saw in their entire life...

help will be apreciated! thanks

My 3.8 does about 4.5 miles per litre and shows 74mph (119kph) when I'm doing 70mph (112kph) according to GPS.

Have you got the correct size tyres (tires) on?

They're standard so that's not the problem. What are you using to get your 'actual' speed?

Most speedo's on cars are callibrated to be conservative, ie show you to be travelling faster than you are. 7-10% is the usual limit allowed. Most cars show around 4-6 mph above your actual speed at around 75mph.
