Anyone got a spare, spare 17" rim?

I've been looking for ages to pick up a 17" X 8" wheel as a spare as for some reason I have a genuine 18" Alpina as a spare, and what with the 'Ring trip would prefer to have a 17" so if I do have to use it for a prolonged time I needn't concern myself with differing overall diameter.

I've been looking on eBay for ages with no luck - anyone got a spare spare so to speak???

Also, HOW bad is it for the rear diff to run a 255/40/17 on one side and a 235/40/18 on the other? I've had to do it before but not for long, would the journey from the 'Ring to Amsterdam like that result in a knackered rear diff?

I've got a couple of Type 42 wheels that I originally used as track day wheels, until I found out one was buckled - and then I got some M-System II wheels instead.

Keep meaning to put them on ebay, but have never gotten around to it. You're welcome to make an offer if they're of interest to you, PM me for info.

I've got some spares if you need one until you find one? I've got two sets spare 1 x turbine and 1 x throwing star. All 8j's. I have one 9j spare. Take your pick?

I'm in Bracknell, 'lock up where wheels are stored is at Eversley.

Al, checking that out, it's 1.5% difference between the tyre sizes. I wouldn't like to drive with one on for very far on the back - it would be fine as a temporary measure, but not very good for the diff (if say, for example) all the way back from Deutschland...
