How costly and difficult is it to find throwing stars?
I am looking at a car that has the "turbine" hubcaps on it...was wondering how hard it is to find the throwing stars, how easy they are to install, and how costly they are. Any help is appreciated!

Thanks Stevie--so I guess I just need 2 of each side throwing stars, then the center cap, then the label--it says that the roundel label is ended, NLA...I guess I could find those relatively easily if I looked around.
From the BMW Faq site, beware very early cars, as their may be a slight difference
"Even though BMW used the same part numbers for all of its M5 forged rims, owner experiences have shown that cars built from 1989 through early 1990 came equipped with wheels of slightly different design. While the overall shape and dimensions are very similar, the face of the wheel's bolt pattern has less clearance for the clips on the plastic hubcap that must fit in the center of the wheel. These clips may have to be removed and other means (adhesive) for attaching the hubcaps may be necessary."
Just a heads up that some early Turbine wheels may need a blob'o'glue to hold the centres on.
The 'stars covers turn up every six months or so on Ebay. I once enquired at a main dealer, was quoted £180! Per Side!! LOL!!
Regards
Ivan

My M5 came to me with Turbine II, or throwing star covers. As a 6/90 build car, it came from the factory with Turbine covers and this change is the only non-original thing about the whole car.
As such, I have recently bought a set of Turbine's to fit to take it back to entirely original. They are on the way from the US as we speak.
I consider that the t/stars are certainly a better looking wheel, but like the 'retro' look of the turbines and the fact that no car other an original M5 would ever have them fitted by choice. Also add hugely to the 'Q' car look status of the car.
However, I am not looking to sell the t/star covers. My M540i came with t/stars and although it is currently shod with M-Parallels, I will keep the covers as spares for the t/stars, which I intend to fit with track tyres for both the M5 and M540i.
I'm lucky to have bagged two sets of throwing stars with mine - the standard set and another with the wider rear wheels. And no, I'm not selling any of them!
