Independant Insurance Valuations

Anyone done one to asses the *true* value (for insurance purposes) of their cars due to modifications etc?

Can anyone suggest any? Is it a worthwhile thing to do as no doubt the book market value of my old 3.6 is about £4G tops, and considering I've spent more like 3 times that I'd be pretty gutted being offered that amount should i need to claim.

Hi Mate are you planning something we do not know about a bit worried now .

As for valuations I suppose you will have to get a recognised authority to review the car and then give a valuation from there.

Last time I had to do something llike this I gathered all the sales info for a car in the same condition and then fired it at the company doing the complaining. They eventually saw sense and also relaised that they were not xgoing to get any further and gave up.

Are you a member of the BMW Car Club, they may be able to help as I am sure this has been done for others and they may even be able to supply experts in the field.

Only had this done once for one of my cars and I used the relevent club as a reference source. Problem is that both parties have to agree on the source of the reference.

Make sure you document everything.

Obviously if you get yourself some of the sporty-streamline mirrors (I think that's what they're called) then the insurance company will easily value it at £5k....

You can use E36 M3 ones, they are the same.

Thinking about that car would you like me to see if I can contact Paul and see what has to say about the mirrors, from my recollection regarding the article, which I can try and dig out, there was only one issue and that was that the drivers side mirror dipped when reverse was selected.

So there must be a reasonable solution.

Sorry diversion aboutthe diversion on this thread, seems like we have three subjects to avoid talking about ....Mirrors, Oil and tyres!

To get this back on topics from the ghetto's of Essex, I haven't had the 5 appraised. I have had it done for a few other cars, and the law here says if you hire on of the licenced (7 total in Holland) appraisers insurance companies here will have to stick to their value no matter what. That value does automaticaly start to decline after 3 years, so re-appraisal is due every three years.
