A wallet challenge coming soon...

Guys,

Inspection II coming up in about a 1000 miles or so. Got a quote from the local 'stealership'...£700+. Funny thing was that he could only give me a quote based on an E46 M3 after I told him it was an E34 M5.

Needless to say, he just didn't give me that warm fuzzy feeling...you know what I mean? So, any recommendations for BMW specialists in the Slough/Maidenhead/East Berks area would be greatly appreciated.

I've heard lots of good things about Munich Motors in Wokingham, they're not a million miles from you. They certainly helped out when my M5's throttle position sensor fell to bits.

Birds UK in Uxbridge still do a great job on M Cars and their rates are very reasonable +44 (0)1895 810 850. Also worth mentioning is Autobahn Services in Rickmansworth. Tel: +44 (1)923 718907 Fax: +44 (1)923 718906 Mobile: +44 (0)7831 261992.

I've had issues with Birds in the past and would exercise caution where they are concerned...

Can recommend my mechanic who works out of Birds premises so easy to find but takes in his own customers. Phil Crouch (CPC) - 01895 25 2288/ mobile 07960 280 953. GIve him a call and see if he can help.

Very thourgh also reasonable and realistic. Maintains and specialises in Alpinas, 80's and 90's M cars.

Looks after quite a few cars.

Bexley Motorworks in Bexleyheath are excellent and know their way around E34 M5's like the back of their hand.
I deal with them alot and they come highly recommended.

I think an Inspection 2 is £400+ VAT.

I can second Phil Crouch - not Birds themselves though. Had work done by both, Phil is great and knows his stuff, Birds is...transmission interrupted...
