Another mystery part

I had my passenger door card off at the weekend to try and fix my siezed door lock - limited success but at least I can now lock the door. Anyway, I noticed something lurking inside the door near the hinge and pulled this out.

It's got broken glass in one end so I guess it's been attached to a passenger window at some point and the said window has been damaged. The part number is 1 391 315 but I'm drawing a blank with the on-line ETK.

Any ideas?

Bumpstop for the sidewindow. That bugger (along with the alloy strip) is the reason you"ll screw up your shadowline molding when replacing a side window.....

Sorry to dig up this fossil of a thread, but i just thought i'd chime in. That little piece is the magnetic trigger for the "glass-break" intrusion sensor in each door. it gets magnetically coupled to the pick-up in the top front corner of the door.

I found this thread because i just took my glass out and have found the plastic on mine destroyed due to internal rusting. I too get no luck finding it on the ETK. although I have found there is a different part number for side windows for cars with alarm - making me think this little trinket comes as part of the window.. thanks BMW for printing a part number but not making the part available.

part number 1 391 314 is the pickup, which *is* available. go figure.
