? Running rich - The Unofficial BMW M5 Messageboard (m5board.com)

I have noticed that my exhast pipes are a bit sooty! (Black soot on inside of tail pipes, even after long run) I am no mechanic, but I think this means that it is running too rich and that the car needs a tune up. Am I likely to do any damage if I leave this until the next service? (4 green lights left)

P.S. Any one know of a garage near Taunton who could be trusted to fiddle with the tuning of an M5 without stuffing it up! ??Exeter BMW

The pipes always soot up on these cars
The type of catalyst & silencer on these cars will allow very high flow & very little being trapped in the mufflers .

Normal.
Cant be avoided.

You know when you will have a mixture problem when your car wont start cleanly or idle properly.

Rich is good. S14 and S38 leaned-out by Dutch MOT-stations have no mid-range whatsoever.
