From what I've read, replacing the exhaust cam sprocket delivers a huge gain in sorely-needed torque on our 3.6L cars. I've searched and searched, but it doesn't seem that anybody has posted a procedure for doing this job.
Any tips? What other parts would I need aside from the sprocket?
Chainging the sprocket is not hard just takes time.
Remove the cam cover upper chain 'guard' this will expose the sprockets.
to the front of the sprockets are two access panels. remove the one for the exhuast sprocket. At this point you will have to remove the tensioner.
once the tensioner has been removed unscrew the exhuast sprocket and position sensor and remove the sprocket and refit new one.
At no point allow the chain to fall down the gap, keep in tension.
Once the sprocket, chain and tensioner it refitted turn the engine by hand to ensure the timing is correct. at top dead centre the marks on the camshafts should line up with the brackets just behind the sprockets.

You can gain access by removing the washer bottles.
That should give enough space to get a socket or spanner to loosen the tensioner.
From picture you can see the location.
Hope this helps
I have read something about exhaust cam sprockets somewhere as well.
Maybe the tech guys on here can chime in with their thoughts on whether it is a worthwhile upgrade that could be done at the same time that I upgrade the tensioner?
Cheers
