Fake M5 in movie "Bringing Out The Dead" ! LOL!

Watched Ronin the other day, again, then because I was bored, I looked thru the DVD collection to see what I had not watched! Bought this Nicholas Cage film Bringing Out The Dead about three years ago, never watched it!

14 mins in, Paramedic Nicks talking to err.. hookers, when lo and behold, the local hoods get out of his Ambulances way in... tada... a fake M5!

Dodgy aftermarket exhaust and no license plate surround! Take that M5 badge off Mr Homeboy! (Is that the expression one uses for a NYC gentleman of colour living in a less-well-to-do area?)

I know, I know, get out and get a life!

Life moves pretty fast, if you don't stop once in a while and take a look around, you might miss it!

LOL

Thats a good catch there Ivan. I noticed your Cooper S thing in your sig- have you ever driven against one? I did and it was pretty fast! Don't know if it was modified or not but that thing can flat out take a corner like crazy. Of course the M5 is just ever so slightly larger and heavier...

I think my Ronin counts can only be noted in a Microsoft Excel file...

While we are on the subject, am currently re-viewing the original Italian Job with the three mini coopers ( Hey how's that for on-topic! combining WylM5's reply and Ivan's initial movie thread!) and Michael Caine as Charlie Croker. Best part of the movie is the very beginning, as a guy hurdles through the Alps ( this must appeal to RW!) in a red Miura , carried by the song "On days like these" .. I love that sequence, and my mom used to turn the video off seconds before the Lambo got crashed when I was a kid! Honestly just saw it getting pushed off the cliff when I was about 15 years old...

I believe an E34 is used in Cannonball Run as well, along with the red Quattrovalvole LP400 ( not the black one!) and driven by that fat guy. I always reckoned it Lachssilber. The played owner of the car claims to work for BMW, wearing a BMW jacket and telling the fat guy to "Park his car alongside the other racecars". Haven 't seen the flick in a while though, might be an E32 or something as well.

I believe that the car in cannonball run is a 750i, not M5. Fat guy = John Candy..

Yes that's him, was thinking along the lines of John Cleese and couldn 't get through .. Like I said, might very well be an E32. Candy stated that the rear axle is "the strongest part of the car"

In my E38 days I had a complete list of movies it featured!

All i remember is that a truck was keeping up with it going along the road....

not very M5 like!

Steve

a bit like the chase in Ronin - Pug 406 keeping up with fake M5 or whatever it was!

yes , facts & fiction appear to get mixed a lot in the motion picture automotive area. It's all junk food for the eye though, and who cares about the eagle-eyes of us M5-gearheads
