Sorry I just cannot stand to pay 130.00 + for a stupid shift rod... So I made my own. My buddy is a CNC operator, if you guys are interested I will give you the CAM file when he makes it. I did the preliminary design in AutoCAD 2004.
Have fun!

If you give me the size -- center to center I will make the drawing for ya. If there are any kinks in it you will have to give me a dimensioned sketch.
On an another note -- has anyone thought about using polyuratheane bushings for the main shifter support (the long alum. piece from trans to pivot point). Skateboards use a bushing that could probably be pressed into the rear pivot, and as far the the trans side... Well I am open to ideas as where to get a bushing/grommit for that.
Do you happen to know the material used for UUC's DSSR?
Sorry ACAD and JPGs do not mix well, so I used PDF...

Right on man, I made my own short shifter too! and it shifts just as good as my brother's UUC! I replaced the bushing with oem, then machined my own bushing (the one that mounts on the transmission housing) out of delrin.
I extended the shift arm about an inch to finish it off.
Another thing I am wondering about though, I think the shift rod might work better if it had an angle to it 45 degrees or less, therefore aligning the shift rod with the shifting arm.... i noticed on most short shifters get notchy because of the exagerated length below the ball.

Funny you mention that, because the picture at realoem.com shows a shift rod with an angle in it, though it is angled down on the trans side, opposed to angled up on the shifter side (if I understood you correctly).
Anyhow I am going to keep to stock shifter, I do not want to shifter to sit any lower because I am like 6'-1 and the height is perfect right now.
