Swap CD changer not faceplate?
Hey guys, I'd like to change the stock cd changer that resides in my trunk. It skips horribly given that it has 13 yr old tech with not anti skip. I'd really like to keep the stock faceplate in the car though. Can I get a compatible modern changer to replace the old one and still work with the stock faceplate?

you should be able to as long as you keep the manufacturer the same, im not sure who made the head unit but match the manufacturer and you should be fine.

No modern changers are compatible. There are some after market units available however they are costly. If you upgrade to 96 or newer E36 head unit you can add a modern changer with an I-bus adapter.
