I've read some of the threads but I'm curious as to what the job costs, perferably from any canadians who've had the job done? What did the total job cost you with delete and new susp?
I haven't experienced many US drivers on this board having deleted the SLS, if any.
What about shipping Koni from mainland Europe? If you can get a quote ( www.ups.com), it will weigh approx 35 kilos max.
Cost of a complete set can be found in my recently updated thread on the subject.
Koni is one of the best suitable shocks for the M5. Getting them from US or CND shops will result in a price that will top mine, even included shipping.
HOWEVER
I strongly suggest , if you have only ONE leaky SLS shock, simply replace that one. Cost will be equal to the SLS delete set, but the system is a charm when in good working order and a sure thing for retaining value. I simply haven 't kept it for I found the stock system too soft, and needed to fork out for two SLS shocks.. Since your car is stock height you 'll wanna lower the front & back when installing Koni. Add to the fact that I am confident in NOT selling my car in the near future so I don 't care for depreciation at all.
Regards,
Wout

I actually find it a bit soft myself. My main concern is that what garauntee do i have that if I fix the one problem shock that another won't start leaking next week?
Thanks SNL, I'm going to look into my price for the Koni's. I have a wholesale connection.
Goto the yahoo E34 M5 group, and ask Gary Derian, he knows all there is to know about deleting the sls, and installing Konis, and he's from North America.. West Virginia i think..
North American resident here and I deleted the SLS about a month ago.
Total cost for shocks and springs all around was a little less than 2 rear SLS shocks and accumulators.
The post removal examination showed dead rear shocks and the front shocks were flat out GONE. When I removed the collar on the front shocks, something other than oil came out..they were just dead.
I did not want to go the accumulator route and wind up with the same issue. I know that some seepage should be expected on the rear shocks but my left was soaked so I decided to delete the SLS. I also installed new rear pitman, touring sway, front control arms, swaybar links and strut bearings. The car is solid.
There are several stateside suppliers of E34 suspension kits which is what you will need to do the job. If you search the web I am sure will get a good Idea of part costs. Labor is variable. The real question when doing your suspension is how much you want to spend as when you start with 1 item it invaribly leads to others which should be replaced while down there.
