Eisenmann info

Hi guys
Does the eisenmann standard exhaust for the 3.8 have identical size tailpipes -70mm- to the standard item? Insurance stipulations mean i'm unlikely to be able to buy the race version.

Yeah yeah I know - measure it yourself, but my car's been in the garage for the last 2 weeks. Guess i'll wait till it's out to measure the tailpipes.

The Eisenmann, exhaust has either 75mm or 83mm tips.

are these options purely cosmetic or does it effect performance / sound etc?

I don't know.

I would assume it has something to do with looks and sound, but it could also be the optimum size for the flow rate?

The 83mm version is the race version which is louder, AFAIK they don't provide additional performance as the standard exhaust is so good. Reason for replacement is that you can get a stainless exhaust for less than the BMW original item.

Eisenmann essentially make four versions of the rear box for our cars.

They come in a race and sport version. Neither is particularly aggressive, despite the use of the label 'race' on one, but the sport is closer to providing standard exhaust performance - quieter etc.

Both the race and sport versions come with either of the two tip sizes. The only difference is the size of the tip and, hence, the difference in tip size is purely cosmetic. The size and performance of the pipes comprising the rest of the box are exactly the same (ie for race or sport), regardless of which tip is specified.

I have the race version fitted to my 540i (with the smaller tips) and it has certainly provided a greater degree of presence, but not a lot of decibels, which is exactly what I wanted.

Cheers

I'd have a rather mistreated version for sale from my car. With mistreated I mean that some very fashion orientated git of a previous owner thought DTM style exhaust tips would be cool...

So its not just the back exhaust part but the whole lot including standard kats.

The middle muffler is a pre Eisenmann design ( from H&H motorsport which was bought up by Eisenmann, or went bust in other words).

Shipping from Funland is goign to be a killer but i can chop it into parts if need be.

Let me know.

I went back to the heavt stock version.

Hi, Thanks for the offer, I'll only be interested if it's very cheap, primarily due to the postage costs. How much are you looking to get for the backbox only and any idea of postage?
