Help wantet -M5 hamann

Hi..

Been browsing around for a time, a lot of good stuff here..

Although I have gone trough a lot of the old threads , I could not find anything about the hamann m5.

The reason is , I considering buying one¨.. or atleast go and have a look at it.

The car is a 1990mod hamann M5, stroked 3,6 to 3,8l ( aprox 375 hp)

Anyone have some information on this cars, technical issues ?
.. Things to look for besides usual M5 stuff ... It has 205 000 km on it

Owner also stated it has a special transmission, "stragith cut gears" and this makes it make some noise in higher revs.. !!??

Thankx..

Hi mate, I dont really know a lot about this model but straight cut gears will be pretty noisy, depends what your gonna use the car for and how often, not quite sure why the car has a straight cut `box, unless its a buggered syncro box??

Re: Help wantet -M5 hamann

Well the girbox is a "stock" hamann unit.. the seller told me..
Think it sound weird.. was hoping for some info regarding this..

I`ve allready sent an e-mail to Hamann, but no answer.

It would be nice to know exactly what is done with the car.. especially the engine...

Otherwise the car seems Ok.
New brake pads, rotors, and calipers, New shocks and springs, all new bushings..

Re: Help wantet -M5 hamann

Nitrous on an M5...Interesting. Would Hamann really do that? Wish I could offer some help. Good luck.

Re: Help wantet -M5 hamann

well lets hope he never used it...
Are you sure hamann made an M5? Maybe the seller is just claiming this? I personally wouldnt know, but from the special models and editions ive heard throughout exploring the history of the e34, and from posts and users of this board, Ive never heard of a hamann M5 ever. Ive seen bmw's with dinan badges and maybe a dinan cold air intake, and the sellers seem to think this makes the car an official dinan car and that its something special . Are there tags on the car that state its a hamann car and the production number? Also who knows if the seller really never used that or they're just claiming that. Nitrous wouldnt be very nice to the M5s motor. Maybe the seller just installed the hamann wheels and some suspension and claims its a hamann car? Either way, Id say if the sellers really selling it at a bargain, maybe its worth buying, otherwise find something a bit cleaner, because usually if you do find a cheap e34 M5 you can expect to put quite a bit of costly repairs into it.

also, ask the seller about the side mirrors, those are from later M5 models..

Re: Help wantet -M5 hamann

Of course there has to be taken a compression and leak down test.. About the nitrous thing, I really don’t know.. Also the coolant level reservoir bothers me a bit .. Looks like a lot of heat..fficeffice" />

He said the car is tuned by hamann.. 3,8l engine, gearbox, wheels, and exhaust.

Except from rear muffler, which is changed..

Someone was going to buy the car during the weekend, but then this buyer did not get through with his finances.. He has to sell the car, as he need the money..

The pricing is just a tad lower than other m5`s sold in good condition.. But I really need som information regarding what kind of engine work Hamann supplied for this series M5

I`ve been looking for a decent e34 m5 for a couple of months now, there is a lot of people that doesn’t care much about their cars, that’s for sure.

This appears to be one of them. I would be embarrassed to open the hood. You do know coolant level is critical on the beast.
