Misfire - cheap result!

Over the passed month the cars been running ruff with plenty of misfires and running jerky at about 2000-3000 revs. Got the crank censor cleaned with a slight improvement but still misfiring. I bought a new single coil with a view to trying it in different pots to see if there was a duff one. An (non motor) electrical engineer suggested that I clean the coil leads and insulators onto the spark plugs and treat them with anti-static fluid. Was a bit dubious about this but gave it a try. Once I had the coils out there was a bit of condensation on the insulators. So cleaned them up and put a little bit of record cleaning anti-static fluid on them then at the bottom on the insulator where they sit onto the spark plugs - used electrical switch cleaner and used a cotton bud to clean them up for good measure. What a result! The car runs just like it should do - a nice warbel on tick over and pulls harder and smother through the rev range. Needless to say I'm well chuffed.

PS should have posted a link here a while ago - some photos from driving round the coast of ffice:smarttags" />Scotland...it was driving heaven I’d thoroughly recommend it.

Re: Misfire - cheap result!

Hi Jahangeer,fficeffice" />

The photos were taken at various points round my trip round the coast from memory they are in numerical order started in Ayrshire (south west) then up to Oban then onto Gairloch (this part was my favourite saw 3 cars in three hours of hard driving) cut across to Inverness then up to lairg then unfortunately the weather really turned against me so I started back down the east coast - Aberdden, Arbroath Edinburgh then back across inland to Ayshire. Sorry I can't be more specific about where they were taken.

PS although I've solved the misfire I've now got a leaking radiator (luckily covered under warranty) - it never ends but she’s defiantly worth it

Presumably Sweden’s got some ace roads?

-----------------

absolutely - there are some good raods here, both twisty and some very long straights - that have the dual purposes of both roads and air landing strips,

I think I will start a thread with a photo shot of our favourite roads and why...
