Question for Mtec 2 Steering Wheel

I need help. I purchased a M-tec sterring-wheel off ebay from someone in Germany and he said that it fits E34, but when I went to change the steering-wheel the steering-wheel didn't fit. The hole on the steering wheel was smaller. What can I do to make it fit. Do I change the Steering column? And if so, which one do I use? A M3? I have a 1991 M5. I want to chnage the plain steering wheel into the Mtec Steering-wheel. The guy i purchased the wheel from in Germany says it did fit. Can someone please help help me, thanks in advance.

If it is not a straight fit & more work is required. Take pics & measurements of the engagement splines & send to the seller.
If he can throw light on the adapter required then great.
Otherwise, throw it back at him with the threat of bad feedback & dispute resolution under the terms of "item not as described"
I would not change out parts of the steering to fit a wheel.

You may also encounter airbag problems which could fail safety inspection.

no air bags in the mtech2 wheels - airbags weren't added til '94 i think.... i'm sure someone can correct me on that.

But if it doesn't fit, I'd say its not for an e34.

Re: Question for Mtec 2 Steering Wheel

They did mtec 2s for e30's. These were slightly smaller, but as far as I know the spline is the same.

The ETK shows 3 differnet M-tech II wheels.

2 are for e30 and e34. They only differ in size (370mm and 385mm).
The third looks identical but fits pre-airbag e36 cars and is not compatible with the e34. I guess you have one of those.

Steering wheel question.

So E36 cars share the steering wheel fitment with airbag e34's?

Momo e36 steering wheel hub will fit my 93 airbag m5?

Anyone know?

There were 2 airbag fitments with both e36 and e34. Both old ones will swap and both new ones will swap. I don't know about airbagged-to-non-airbag.

Yes, from searching it seems that non airbag to non airbag fits and airbag to airbag fits.
