Help ! 91 M5 Gearbox

Hi Guys,

I am in desperate help to locate a used E34 M5 euro spec for my car.

The 2nd gear is gone suspecting the synchro mesh gears are all gone, no one here in my country will repair it. They consider it un-repairable.

Anyone have similar experience ?

Know anywhere I can get once quick ? How much would it be ?

Much appreciate your reply.

thanks
Charles

They are not easy to get hold of even in England - I had a similar problem with my '91 3.6 - I ended up buying a 6sp s/h box instead. There are however places who will recon them here - but it will cost you at least £600 and could be more. I have a slightly problematic 5sp box sat in the garage if you want spare parts for yours... but at 75+kgs prob would be more worth your while getting a completely working one shipped.

I believe board member Wane ramsey still has a BRAND NEW unused 6sp box, and if you can get a 6sp prop to go with it you could have a spanking new box with some frightening improvement in acceleration.... but obviously that's going to cost a fair bit.....

I think you replace with Getrag 265without too much trouble for a lower cost.

Hello Charles, your box sounds easily fixable but it doesnt seem like postage would be worth it. I am just about to replace a 5 spd with a 6 in a german car. I will be getting it done on friday so the 5spd will be available after that. Let me know if you are interested.
Richard.

Hi Richard,

I'm definitely interested in it .... how much are you looking to sell it ?

Honestly, the E34 M5 to me is a collection rather than a daily driver. It needs to be in pristine condition, but i want the car to at least drive like an m5.

So please let me know the price asap.

thanks

Charles

Re: Help ! 91 M5 Gearbox

Wayne,

Do you know how much is the 6sp. prop ?

I'm sending my M3 from Manchester to HK this weekend, you think you can have it sent to my freight forwarder if we come up with a deal ? Will you be able to source the 6sp. prop for me ?

How much in total though.

Please PM or email me

thanks thanks

Charles

I believe about £400 from BMW, but you could probably source one at your end.

Wane is not on the forum loads, i'll let him know you are interested, and I'm sure he will get in touch.
