favorite tools

here's something i thought of asking everyone, since reading many many threads on here and noting that alot of people tend to do alot of thier own work, as do i, what is your favorite brand and/or make of tools? I personally own mostly Snap-On and Hazet and I have quite a few from Craftsman. what does everyone else use?

Shawn

My favourites are Snapon & Draper Professional in that order.
The Snapon sockets & spanners are brilliant.
The Guarantee of replacement in event of failure is a solid one.
Their Torque wrenches are not any better than others so I have a
mixture there dpendant on drive size.

i agree on their torque wrenches, but i still have a few from them my favorite torque wrench is from MAC 0-300 ft lbs in 1/2" drive i use it for nearly everything that requires torqueing. is draper a UK brand?

Yes, I think Draper are UK.
Use my 1/2" Torque wrench for all suspension & hub related settings.
None of my 1/2 inch jobbies go from 0 though, Mine tend to run from 40ft lb to 170 ft lb or 110 ft lb to 250 ft lb.
The lower end is covered by 3/8" drive.

Covers most of my jobs though.

Re: favorite tools

Snap-on for frequently used tools - sockets/ratcheting screw drivers/spanners/snips

Britool and draper for less frequently used items - picks/pliers/hammers/grips

any old tat £1 jobbies for the 'once in a blue moon' jobs

........
i make my living with my tools and look after them.

Craftsman are quite good but have managed to snap some smaller spanners

Re: favorite tools

Ive got a selection of Sykes, Snap On and Halfords Pro stuff which is great - cant fault it.
If you break anything its a no quibble replacement.
Only thing ive managed to break is a couple of the interchangeable screwdriver bits - no biggy.

Pete.

Armstrong, snap on and Proto mostly. The Armstrong stuff is really nice if you can find it.

Re: favorite tools

I need a decent set of tools (i mean decent selection, not necesarily the best quality ie most expensive) and was considering this as a starter set - seems quiet a good price for a good selection.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-Sealey-Too...QQcmdZViewItem

any thoughts on Sealey stuff or the selection offered there?

Re: favorite tools

Slightly off topic, I noticed on ebay - 'genuine e30 M3 plug spanner' - as far as I could gather looked identical to the Heyco one in the toolkit. Last time I checked the auction price was over £75 !!
Illjah, don't know how good sealy tools are but I still use one of their yankee trolly jacks that I 'forgot' to return to the workshop when I was college 10 years ago, works very well. I also noticed a 300 piece Clarke tool kit in Machine Mart for £99.82, probably good enough for most DIY stuff.

Re: favorite tools

Try http://www.tool-catalogue.co.uk/tool...oducts_id/4420

The tools are better if you can get round the size of the box.
