EDC P and S lights work the standard green color illuminates when selected. There has never been a computer alert for the suspension before on the dash. The car has had the battery cable disconnected for other minor work so the resetting the ECU is thing does not seem to be relevant. When driving on the highway at high speeds the front end bounces up and down a lot. The rear seems fine in all accounts.
I have researched the cost of the shocks and even the ECU so I am aware of the costs. What I want to know is if the suspension is shot why are there not any message warnings? Also Could it be a bad ECU? And if I replace the front shocks do or should I replace the rears as well?
Any help, suggestions, comments would be greatly apprecited.
Thanks

If the EDC dampers are weeping, there will NOT be a warning.
Jack up the front end & look for signs of weeping out of the top the damper.
If you have obvious fresh hydraulic oil , then its history.
Replace dampers & top up reservoir with CHF11S.
I would add that you dont have to replace dampers as across axle pairs as with conventional dampers.
Single unit replacement is ok as pressure for each damper is controlled via solenoids energised by inputs from steering angle potentiometer, speed input from axle & horizontal / vertical accelerometers.
If no leaks then check rear self levelling pipes & also examine suspension springs for damage / fatigue.
