I might have acquired a 91 3.6

Looks like I might have acquired a '91 3.6 M5.

Made a low (in Australian terms) offer - about 8000 pounds - all I could get permission from the boss to offer, in the hope it would be enough - and it looks like it was!

Silver, light grey leather interior and 247,000kms and full service history, but I haven't actually seen it or driven it!
I intend to use it as a club car, occasional track work etc.

Any thoughts on what I might need to look at straight up?

Cheers

Is this Mitchell's from Qld?

If it is I have seen it and it is immacualte. I dont know about a track car, there are plenty of other BMW's that would be a better buy for a track car.

Good luck with the purchase.

Yes. It is Mitchell's. As I have agreed to buy sight unseen, I appreciate your feedback.

In terms of track work, I probably didn't express myself well. It will be a week-end car, brought out for BMW Club events etc, which may include the occasional day at the track.

Not intending to use as a serious track car.

Cheers

Congrats on the purchase.

As to what to look at, nothing exept for maybe replacing the cam chain tensioner and having a llok at the condition of the SLS dampers.

Re: I might have acquired a 91 3.6

Bought and paid for today. It is currently on the back of a truck making its way from Brisbane to Melbourne. Due there on Friday.

From there, I will probably fly over and take it back on the boat. But I am in no hurry as my good friend Andrew at Southern BM has agreed to look after it for a while, at least until I decide what I want to do with it.

He has a guy that wants to buy the 540iLE, so maybe I should sell that and keep the M5. I think that I need to review the thread from a week or so ago comparing the 540i/6 and the 3.6 M5 - as I now own one of each!

Cheers
