Apparently my front control arms are on their way out. Thinking of putting in Powerflex bushes, or should I stay with stock? Any views gratefully received,

I'd go with Powerflex. They're slightly stiffer, wear out just as quickly, but are much easier to replace......

The powerflex bushes dont wear out as far as I know.

This is what i thought...
Fitted them to my old Mk1 Golf years ago on the basis it is 'fit and forget'....

Powerflex themselves claim that once they are fitted they outlast the life of the car. If they should go wrong I suspect they would change them.

On the subject of stuffness, yes they are stiffer but you would not notice get a harsher ride unles your using a very large bush like the subframe bushes.

I have front control arm bushes fitted to my E30 which has much less sound proofing than an E34 and there is no additional noise or harshness in the ride.

I will be fitting mine at the same time as Farrell.

The only Powerflex bush I wouldnt use the road use is the rear subframe bushes. Powerflex are however working on a revised deisgn which reduces harshness.

The other very attractive thing about the powerflex stuff is that if you control arms fail, the bushes are such that you just pop them out and use them in the new control arms, no need for presses etc.

I have Powerflex bushes on the front and have only found upsides - more positive 'feel' to the car and no noticable increased noise or vibration transmitted.

Also they are a hand fit rather than requiring a press.

I've been considering these for a while, and as i'm about to re-do my whole suspension; as Cyrus said, "it'd be rude not to fit them"....
