Wiseco number for S38B38 standard size piston.
Hi Guys.


Please help me to identify the exact Wiseco piston for my old beast.
I nead the ordering number of the original bore size piston for M5 3.8. 94.6mm diameter.
I wanna order 6 new from Wiseco...just i dont know what is the exact id or serial number or whatewer for this above mentioned pistons.
The "wiseco number" neaded.

Please help

The realoem is ok just there only avaible the bmw number of the orig Mahle piston.
I wanna buy Wiseco because it is cheaper and better quality than Mahle.


My problem is the Hungaryan Wiseco dealer dont know the ordering number of the piston....strange.
He ask from me a used piston for sample. My problem is...I have not any extra piston for sample.

If you search in Google for Wiseco + S38b38, you get lots of results with other forums where people have used Wiseco pistons. Perhaps they can help too?

How I heard Wiseco pistons are harder and lighter than Mahle.
They have a bit different technology.

I dont know it is good or dangerous...the pistons are lighter 15-20% than Mahle.
How do you think it is a risk or a good tuning possibility?

I would think that less wieght in the engine would be a good thing, as it would be less stress on the engine.. But Farrell I am sure would be able to confirm it.

Beware that the original bore is 94.555mm, not 94.6mm.

Hi Donati.

Yes You are right. My numbers was not correct.
I checked at realoem.com the piston sizes.
I fined 2 version of std size pistons.
94.555mm (0)
94.605mm (00)

Question:

What size good on my old 174000km engine?...if not necessary to overbore the cyls.

Maybe the 94.605mm better in a used block or it can stuck when the engine is realy warm?
